A few years ago I released a Bootcamp Finisher Drills manual. A Musical finisher drills to be exact.
I remember spending a full day testing out these bootcamp drills. I was shattered by the end of it.
Now and again I hear songs on the radio where the same words repeat. This is often the perfect recipe for a great musical finisher drill. Well, unless the song is just plain rubbish.
After almost 8 years in the fitness industry, something has become very obvious to me. Trainers that go the extra mile to create an amazing atmosphere at their sessions, and look after their clients are the ones that stay in business the longest.
And in my experience make the most money.
There are many ways to create an amazing atmosphere, even if you’re not a massively outgoing trainer.
One way to amp up the atmosphere is to use musical finisher drills. MFD’S are best used at the end of the session because you want your boot campers leaving on a high.
The following song is called – Throttle – Hit The Road Jack. You’re challenge is to…
Design As Many Bootcamp Finisher Drills
As You Can Using This 1 Song
Also think about what you’re going to do between repeated words (the melody).
Do you know something? I was thinking the other day. It’s so easy to copy bootcamp ideas on the internet and not have to think. I’m all for sharing ideas, but now and again you’ve got to engaged your own brain.
It’s so important because that’s how you develop your existing, and unique skills as a group & personal trainer.
That’s why I want you to do this yourself today.
Bootcamp Finisher Drills: Here’s One
Of My Favourites Workout Drills
I’ve been listening to an album by Imagine Dragons. It’s brilliant. There’s this one song you help but dance to.
It’s just one of those songs you know. Stick it on and you’ll see. It’s called Shot (broiler remix Spotify). It’s also great when you’re coming to the end of a really tough workout and you want to finish strong.
Tell you what though. Spotify is amazing. $10 a month and you can listen to exactly what you want. I’m not sure where I was or what I was doing, but the other day the song YMCA came on. (Village people)
You know the one.
I couldn’t help but notice that 2 words are often repeated. Aha… A recipe for a killer musical finisher drill I thought. The word young man is repeated 19 times, and the words YMCA are repeated 17 times.
So here’s the drill. Have your boot campers sprinting on the spot during the entire song. (4:47). Each time they hear Young man, they’ll complete a single power jack (see video below). And Each time you hear the words YMCA, complete a single burpee.
